Taylor Limited Edition 114CEN With Ovangkol Back And Sides
In this guitar, Taylor delivers an authentic nylon string guitar at an introductory price point. The 100 series is designed for players of all calibers and expertise to obtain a Taylor guitar fit for travel and hours of playtime, while maintaining strength and durability without busting the bank.
The 114CEN features a solid Sitka Spruce top, a genuine Ebony bridge and fingerboard, Taylor’s ES-N Expression System – “N” denoting “Nylon” of course, and this particular model’s most obvious feature, Ovangkol back and sides. What is Ovangkol? This relative wood to traditional Rosewood comes from west Africa, and shares a wide tonal spectrum as Rosewood. According to Taylor Guitars, this tonewood has a slightly broader midrange and a bright high end – almost like that of Koa.
This Taylor guitar fits in line for the player who may not necessarily have the most usage for a nylon string guitar but wants it in the arsenal. It also has a welcoming approach for those who mainly play steel string guitar and want to experiment with a nylon string guitar. Conventional Classical nylon string guy in price point, $999itars often have very large 2”+ nut widths and may not be the most adaptable guitar, especially for someone who wants to be creative quickly. The 114CEN features an approachable 1 7/8” nut width – which is in fact a factory Taylor upgrade. The 114CEN also sits comfortably.
Whatever your skill level or intentions, the 114CEN verses in adaptability.
