Fender Custom Shop ’64 Stratocaster Relic Faded 3 Tone Sunburst
From the fine folks at the Fender Custom Shop is this ’64 Relic Stratocaster. This guitar was a 2019 NAMM limited exclusive that we were lucky to get first dibs on. It features a rad faded three tone sunburst finish – factory standard for a pre-CBS Stratocaster. This particular relic looks tried and true -not overbearing or relic’d in questionable (folks that’s a nice word for “fake”) places. Its rosewood fingerboard was factory sorted for darkness, and features a mid-’60s period correct round laminate construction – as opposed to slab rosewood found around 1960/’61. The fingerboard does feature a 9.5″ radius and 6105 frets – a modern touch for enhanced playability. AAA flame maple was chosen for the neck wood on this Strat, and it looks outstanding. Under the hood, this ’64 Relic Strat is loaded with handwound Fat ’60s pickups with an RW/RP middle pickup for noise free positions 2 and 4.
As is the case with most ’60s reissue CS Strats, this ’64 has fantastic tone and plays with ease. The bridge pickup in particular is bright and twangy as expected but not harsh. Up and down the neck, this Strat is balanced and a joy to play. Come check it and the rest of our current in stock Custom Shop Strats out while you still can!
