Gibson 1950s LG-2 Acoustic Guitar with Bound Fingerboard, Vintage Sunburst
This Gibson 1950s LG-2 Vintage Sunburst Acoustic Guitar is almost identical to the standard 50s LG-2 but with a couple of design upgrades.Â
The guitar’s top is constructed from solid Sitka Spruce, while the back and sides are made of Mahogany. This model features a Mahogany neck with a Historic V profile. The V is noticeable but not overwhelming by any stretch. Deviating from the spec sheet for a 50s LG-2, this model features a bound rosewood fingerboard. Compared to the standard unbound board, the binding adds a touch of comfort and elegance to the package.
The fingerboard exhibits the trusty Gibson 12″ radius and is adorned with pearloid split parallelogram inlays, replacing the standard dot inlays. The guitar contains 20 frets, and it possesses a scale length of 24.75″.
Tuning is managed by vintage style Grover 3-On-A-Plate tuning machines with white buttons, and the nut is made of bone, with a width of 1.725″. Factory electronics are provided by the fine folks of LR Baggs via the Element VTC pickup system, with soundhole mounted volume and tone controls. The bridge is a closed-slot rosewood rectangle.
The finish is a Vintage Sunburst, reminiscent of the 1950s Gibson aesthetics. The guitar comes with a brown hardshell case with a pink interior and weighs in at only 3lbs 12.6oz. This is a one and done slightly modified 50s LG-2.
