Gibson Custom 1958 Korina Explorer Reissue, White Pickguard, Natural VOS Electric Guitar
The Gibson Explorer was first introduced in 1958 with an extremely limited production of only 19 instruments for its inaugural year. Gibson Custom Shop is proud to offer a period correct reissue of the first year Explorers with accurate detailing and top shelf craftsmanship. The ’58 Explorer sports a solid Korina body in the iconic explorer shape. The angular, offset body is well balanced and designed for unimpeded access to the entire fingerboard. The Korina neck is set into the body and adhered with traditional hot hide glue. It’s topped with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard, radiused to 12”. Profile is 50s vintage with a 24 ¾” scale and a 1 11/16” nut width. Custombucker humbucking pickups are routed through a two-volume, master-tone, 3-way configuration with 500k CTS pots and phone book caps. Hardware is aged gold including the Kluson tuners, pickup covers, bridge, and tailpiece. The 4-ply white pickguard and True Historic knobs, switch tip, and cover plates complete the look. The Gibson Custom ’58 Explorer ships with a brown Gibson Custom case with pink interior.
