Martin Custom Shop 0000-14 Grand Auditorium, 3-Piece Sinker Mahogany Back, Adirondack Spruce Top
From the Martin Custom Shop, a 0000 bodied, 14-fret Grand Auditorium acoustic guitar, with a stunning 3 piece back and an Adirondack Spruce top.
The wood used on the back and sides of this guitar is hand selected by Russo Music from a batch of premium Belize Mahogany that had been pulled from the murky, muddy depths of the Central American river system. For hundreds of years, these timbers have been washed over by sediment as they aged to perfection on the floor of these former logging highways. The logs are excavated by locals in Belize and processed at the Martin Factory for use by the Martin Custom Shop. You can see the effect of 100+ years of waterflow, mud, organism decay, and sediment quite clearly. Sinker is prized for its extremely warm and balanced tone across the frequency spectrum.
This Martin Custom 0000-14 Fret Sinker/Adi guitar was designed to be heard. The 0000 Grand Auditorium body size, or M-body, is big and bold, with the touch sensitivity akin to a 000 and the volume cap like a Dreadnought. The 16″ bout is 3/8″ wider than a dread, The Adirondack Red Spruce top, supported with an Adi Spruce X brace pattern, is loud and responsive. The back and sides are Russo Music hand selected Sinker Mahogany, with the back being a 3-piece configuration.Â
The neck is the modified low oval with high performance taper, which is Martin’s most popular modern neck profile. Ebony fingerboard is radiused to 16″ and features MOP dots. Tuners are Schaller Nickel GrandTune with butterbean keys. Style 28 rosette, tortoiseshell pickguard, and a Sinker headplate with the Old-Style Gold decal round it out.
