Taylor Limited 914ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar, Sinker Redwood Top, AA Hawaiian Koa Back and Sides
This limited-edition Taylor 914ce pairs two of the most sought after tonewoods with the luxurious appointments of the Taylor 900 series. The Sinker Redwood top is milled from old growth redwood logs plucked from the bottoms of the California river system that had fallen from logging rafts in the 19th century. The end result is beautiful rich striation from the mineral content of the murky depths they were rescued from. Complimenting the sinker top both tonally and aesthetically is a AA flame Hawaiin Koa back and side set. Look for a strong midrange and shimmery top end from the Koa/Redwood pairing. All solid wood acoustics have a tendency to open up and blossom, taking on new sonic characteristics as their played in and aged. That said, we find that sinker/koa and other old growth guitars seem to continually evolve in volume and tonal range in extraordinary ways.
900 series appointments befitting of this royal wood pairing include a radius armrest, Accension inlays, Koa purfling and paua shell top edge trim, and a single ring paua rosette. The finish is a lightly shaded edge burst, complimenting but not hiding the lovely grain of the Redwood and the Koa. V-Class bracing and ES2 electronics and the Taylor deluxe brown hardshell case round it out.
