1991 Gibson ES-165 Hollow Body, Autographed by Al Di Meola, Cherry w/OHSC – Used
This Gibson ES-165 was constructed in 1991 and is considered a Herb Ellis signature model, although Gibson didn’t officially start printing Herb’s name on the headstock until November of 1991. The Cherry finish was only offered from 1991 to 2001. At some point in its life, a previous owner took the guitar to jazz fusion guitarist Al Di Meola, and he signed the top of the guitar.
The ES-165 is fully hollow and is constructed from a maple body, solid mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The maple top showcases a nice flame, and the Rosewood fingerboard features the fancier split parallelogram inlays. A single 490R humbucker sits in the neck position and can be controlled with the single volume and tone controls. The guitar plays smooth with its slim taper neck and low action. Original Gibson hardshell case included.
This Gibson ES-165 shows signs of use but is overall in very good condition for its age. There are multiple finish checks, scratches, and a dark green/black looking scuff by the output jack. There are some light marks on the binding around the body. Light finish flake on the top of the headstock.
