Gibson Custom 1979 Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar, Ebony With OHSC – Used
This Gibson Les Paul Custom in Ebony finish is a player grade instrument that has undoubtedly seen a lot of stage time over the last 44 years. It features a maple top over a mahogany body, binding over the body and neck, and the infamous split diamond peghead inlay. The frets are low but still have plenty of life left in them, and the neck is easy to maneuver while still having some girth. The addition of a DiMarzio bridge pickup allows for some hotter rhythm tones. This guitar is perfect for someone looking for a vintage instrument that isn’t afraid of putting it to good use.
The guitar itself is in fair condition. There is a large amount of scratching across the top surface of the guitar. There are some deeper scratches near the pickups on the bass side of the instrument, some deeper dings near the bridge, and some dings near the controls as well. The back has very heavy buckle rash all over the back, but not too much of it has broke through the finish. There is one small spot on the back where the natural wood is visible through. The neck has been stripped, and at one point it seems like there has been an attempt at a refinish of the neck. Towards the nut and also towards the heel, there are parts of the neck that have a matte finish leftover from that. The bridge, tuners, and bridge pickup have all been replaced.
