Taylor Custom GA-9 9-String Acoustic Guitar, Sitka Spruce Top, Koa Back/Sides, Natural
This Taylor Custom GA-9 Grand Auditorium 9-String acoustic guitar is truly something to behold! The gorgeous Hawaiian koa brings an exquisite, three-dimensional figuring to the back and sides. The addition of multi-string courses to the D, G, and B strings lends shimmer and sparkle to big, bold chords and delicate fingerstyle parts alike.
First introduced in 1994, the Grand Auditorium body style—an original Bob Taylor creation—was designed to walk the line between the sizable, strummer-friendly Dreadnought and the smaller Grand Concert design favored by fingerstylists. This means a multi-functional shape with enough body to handle flatpicking and strumming while maintaining tonal balance and clean presence. This Taylor Custom Grand Auditorium 9-string has some delightful additions.
The top is a nice, tight-grained Sitka spruce—a classic choice for acoustic soundboards. Stunningly figured Hawaiian koa gives the back and sides an awe-inspiring 3D textural look that is so aesthetically pleasing it’s hard to take your eyes off.
The neck is a nice, smooth mahogany leading up to a single Venetian cutaway for smooth playing and unencumbered access to the higher frets. The fretboard, headstock veneer, bridge, and bridge pins are all West African Crelicam Ebony. The D and G strings courses have an additional string tuned an octave up and the additional B is tuned in unison with its course-mate.
This Taylor Custom GA-9 is also equipped with Taylor’s Expression System 2 (ES2) so you can plug the guitar in for all your on-stage or studio recording needs. Whether you’re playing acoustically or plugged in, this Taylor Grand Auditorium 9-string absolutely shines.
