Gibson Acoustic ’50s LG-2 Spruce and Mahogany Acoustic Guitar, Vintage Sunburst
First introduced in 1942, the history of the Gibson LG-2 acoustic guitar is woven into the fabric of the Second World War’s timeline. The new ’50s LG-2 pays homage to its past with features like a carefully selected Sitka spruce top, complemented by a solid mahogany back and sides, while also modifying the original design with features like an LR Baggs VTC under-saddle pickup system that works to amplify the ’50s LG-2 sound that many have come to love.
With traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, this Gibson ’50s LG-2 offers the timeless warmth and richness generally associated with acoustic flat-top guitars. With body measurements of just under 14-1/2 inches across the lower bout, 19 inches in length, and approximately 4-1/2 inches deep at the tailblock, its form is subtly more compact than that of some of its flat-top counterparts, allowing for a more comfortable playing experience in positions where a bigger guitar may strain the strumming arm.
The iconic ’50s LG-2-shaped body comes with a Vintage Sunburst finish under gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, contributing to both its visual and resonant qualities. The 12” radius Rosewood fingerboard, featuring Mother-of-pearl dot inlays, complements the LG-2’s neck, which boasts an era-specific 50s-style V-profile, with a vintage-inspired feel. The inclusion of Grover Strap Cream Button tuning machines, a teardrop-style pickguard, and a black truss rod cover further contribute to its iconic and authentic vintage aesthetic.
Gibson’s ’50s LG-2 comes in a sunburst finish under hand sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer, and with antiqued binding, adding an elegant touch. It also comes with a Gibson hardshell case included.
