The StingRay Special delivers low-end punch powered by its soapbar-style neodymium humbucker and an 18-volt active preamp and 3-band EQ, providing the necessary tools to sculpt tone with surgical precision.
A great neck is non-negotiable, and Ernie Ball has invested meticulous effort in creating one that offers a balance of comfort, speed, and stability. Carved from premium roasted maple, the neck and fingerboard provide durability and a comfortable playing experience. Finished with a blend of special wax and gunstock oil, the back of the StingRay’s neck feels smooth, allowing easy playability. The 5-bolt attachment, a hallmark of Music Man’s design, brings stability that makes this bass feel solid, through and through.Â
The StingRay Special also sports a select hardwood body, a 34″ scale length, and 22 Stainless Steel frets for durability. The Custom Music Man tuning machines and Melamine nut contribute to its stability, and its Vintage Music Man Topload Steel Bridge, with Vintage Nickel-Plated Steel Saddles, create a classic aesthetic and solid intonation. All of this is finished in a Speed Blue Gloss Polyester, and a softshell case to keep it clean.
