Martin Custom Shop D Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, 18 Style, Bearclaw Sitka Spruce Top with Sinker Mahogany Back and Sides
The Dreadnought has long been a cornerstone in the Martin legacy, a lineage that dates back to the early 20th century. With an 18-style touch, this Martin Custom Shop D Dreadnought 18 Style is a custom creation that pays some respect to a rich history, with the same resonance and tone that’s made Martin’s Dreadnought a staple.
This custom guitar is built with a sinker mahogany back and sides salvaged from underwater, and a Sitka spruce top featuring an intoxicating bearclaw pattern. Underneath the bearclawed Sitka spruce, you’ll find the beating heart of the instrument – a 5/16″ scalloped spruce bracing. Precision says “hello” to tradition, as this bracing creates a guitar that’s both sturdy and sonically nuanced, allowing for powerful projection with a balanced EQ.
Old Style 18 select abalone is inlaid on the fingerboard, and the rosette, decked in Old Style 18 Boltaron, creates a visual narrative while a modified low oval neck profile makes for an extremely comfortable playing experience. Martin’s attention to detail speaks through this instrument, including a 25.4″ scale length, exquisite dark black ebony fingerboard, and bone nut. This D Dreadnought remains true to its acoustic roots, devoid of electronic gadgetry, while a gloss body and satin neck finish make for a smooth tactile experience.Â
