Martin Custom Shop 000-18 1937 Adirondack Spruce/Mahogany, Stage 1 Ambertone w/Case
Russo Music is one of a handful of Martin Custom Shop expert dealers, and as a result we’re fortunate to be able to work with guitars like this beautiful Custom Shop 000-18 1937 with a Stage 1 Ambertone finish. The 000 series, sharing a body shape with the Martin OM, exhibits subtle yet significant differences that contribute to its unique sonic character and playing versatility. While both Martin 000 and Martin OM guitars share the same shape, 000 guitars take a step up in size compared to 00 guitars, with a body length of 19.3 inches, body width of 15 inches, and a scale length of 25.4 inches, offering a slightly larger foundation. This 000 beauty comes to us in this beautiful Stage 1 Ambertone, as well as a Natural finish with the same spec.Â
This Custom Shop 000-18 1937 Auditorium model showcases the iconic 000-14 Fret body size, and is built with a top made from Adirondack Spruce, and a back & sides constructed from Genuine Mahogany. Its bracing pattern comes in the form of a forward-shifted X brace, and the braces themselves are scalloped, enhancing the guitar’s responsiveness and dynamic range. The vintage gloss finish in 1933 Ambertone adds modern flair to an otherwise vintage-inspired design.
The neck is made from Genuine Mahogany, with a Standard Taper offering a comfortable and familiar feel for players. The fingerboard is cut from Ebony and showcases tight wood grain and a naturally dark and sleek surface, divided by 20 frets. The fingerboard width at the nut measures 1 3/4 inches, and Old Style 18 fingerboard inlays adds a touch of vintage to this Martin.
The meticulous finishing of the 000-18 1937 features an authentic Stage 1 Ambertone, and features like the tortoise pattern pickguard, aged Waverly Nickel Open
Back tuners and the decision to offer a light aging option reflects an understanding and appreciation for the unique character of vintage guitars, providing players with the choice of a guitar that emulates beautifully preserved vintage instrument.
This guitar comes without any electronics, and a Martin Custom Shop fitted hardshell case is included.
