PRS Custom 24 Electric Guitar, Rosewood Fingerboard, Faded Whale Blue
You can experiment, you can innovate, but an original’s always an original – case in point, the PRS Custom 24 in a Faded Whale Blue finish. The quintessential PRS guitar, this model was the first Paul Reed Smith ever debuted in 1985 at the Winter NAMM Show. This trendsetting guitar has been a fan favorite ever since among world-renowned stars, aspiring guitarists, and everyone in between. As influential today as it was in the mid ’80s, the Custom 24 rings in decades of stellar musicality for the players of today to continue on.
The Custom 24 starts out with a solid body brought together by a mahogany back and maple top. Outfitted with a violin top carve, this combination of woods makes for an effortless instrument to maneuver in hand and a visual knockout under its high-gloss nitrocellulose finish. The Custom 24 bears the classic PRS double cutaway shape and is carefully contoured for easy sliding under the arm. A mahogany neck shaped in a PRS Pattern Thin profile extends from the classic double cutaway shape to inspire fast moves from lower to higher registers.
This playing experience across the palm is matched on the fingers with a rosewood fingerboard bearing twenty-four frets. Measuring at a ten-inch radius, this board is effortlessly fretted and articulately played. A required element of PRS style is fulfilled with the board’s PRS Birds fret inlays, dropping in that iconic visual motif.
For its classic voice, PRS equips the Custom 24 with two PRS 85/15 humbucking pickups. These powerful and expressive pickups are fitted with a five-way blade pickup selector switch to roll through a colorful spectrum of tones – perfect for hitting creative highs and finding new musical routes to trek.
The audible experience of this PRS gets an extra push with a number of fine hardware specifications. Onboard, strings are grounded with a PRS Patented Tremolo Gen III tremolo bridge that allows for expressive vibrato bends in playing. At the Custom 24’s headstock, six PRS Phase III Locking tuners with wing buttons appear to stabilize strings with modern locking technology and vintage elegance. These tuning machines are designed to be a lighter weight and promote tone transfer for a louder and more resonant instrument. Finally, this PRS classic comes with a PRS hardshell case to make sure this true-blue original travels safely.
A guitar you can trace the entire PRS legacy back to, the Custom 24 carries with it all the style and sound you’ve come to expect from the name. Perfectly balancing several generations of modernity, this electric icon has it all.
