1960’s/1970’s Slingerland Mismatched Drum Kit, Blue Sparkle – Used
Assembled from an assortment of vintage orphan drums dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, this Slingerland drum set is a piece of drum history while also still being an amazing sounding kit. The sizes of the drums – 20×14, 12×8, 14×14, and 16×16 – deliver a dynamic range suitable for various musical styles. To further its versatility, the set includes a Yamaha Tom Arm and a Bass Drum Cowbell Mount, adding to its functionality. While the originality of the Blue Sparkle wrap is uncertain, its imperfect condition adds character, and is entirely adhered to the drums.
The rack tom and bass drum sport 3-ply shells with reinforcement rings, while the two floor toms have standard ply shells, without reinforcement. The bass drum is missing its badge, but shares space with Chicago, IL badges on the rack tom and 14″ floor tom, while the 16″ floor tom sports a Niles, IL badge. This vintage kit’s hardware exhibits minor signs of pitting.
While the drum set carries the wear and tear of its storied past, it’s as player-grade as any vintage kit can be. Beyond its visual charm, the Slingerland drum set embodies the resonance of classic drum eras.
