Epiphone ’59 ES-355 Electric Guitar, Cherry Red w/Hard Case
This Cherry Red Epiphone ’59 ES-355 has a storied heritage in the early electric guitar industry. While this rendition boasts a single mono output, earlier ES-355 models often featured dual outputs for stereo play, premiering in 1958 as Gibson’s top semi-hollow guitar.
Over time, Gibson shifted to mono versions of the ES-355, like this Epiphone, crafted with a 5-ply layered maple and poplar body. Crowned with a 7-ply top binding, 3-ply back binding, 5-ply headstock binding, and single-ply fingerboard binding, the body offers more elegance than one might think, given its price point.Â
Carved from a single piece of mahogany, the neck sports a ’50s Rounded C profile, offering a vintage-inspired, comfortable feel. The ebony fingerboard boasts a 24.75-inch scale length, 22 frets, and Mother-of-Pearl Block inlays, and gold-plated Grover Rotomatic tuning machines grace the headstock.
As part of the “Inspired by Gibson Custom Shop” collection, this guitar features Gibson’s Custombucker pickups, wired to CTS pots and Mallory caps, controlled by a Switchcraft pickup selector. Its VOS (Vintage Original Sheen) Cherry Red gloss finish adds a classic aesthetic to the already classic ES-355 silhouette.
Completing the ensemble is a custom brown hard case with a pink interior, adorned with the “Inspired by Gibson” logo.
