Fender Custom Shop 1960 Telecaster Custom – British Racing Green
You’re looking at a Russo Music Spec’d team built 1960 Telecaster Custom from our friends at the Fender Custom Shop. We decided to keep this one mostly traditional with a couple of added features that will surely appeal to your inner chicken picker.
The body was sorted for lightweight at time of build and comes in at a 7lbs 10oz fully dressed. The quarter sawn neck upgrade was well worth it, boasting one of the widest, most even grain maple necks we’ve come across. Â It’s topped with a particularly dark slab rosewood fingerboard sporting a 9.5″ radius and 6105 frets for added playability.
The 1963 Telecaster pickups are routed through a treble bleed circuit on the volume pot coupled with a no-load tone pot for maximum high end transference. Â The treble bleed circuit will guarantee fidelity at lower volumes and the no-load tone pot give you true bypass when you turn it up to 10.
The double bound body is beautifully finished in British Racing Green nitrocellulose lacquer. The “Closet Classic” finishing is characterized by lacquer checking and mild hardware aging, but the rest is going to be up to you. If you take a couple steps back from the BRG finish, it can look almost black in certain lights. Just the right amount of subdued and standout that works for any live performer or home player.
