Fender Custom Shop ‘63 Precision Bass Guitar Journeyman Relic, Aged Olympic White
The Fender Custom Shop ’63 Precision Bass Guitar Journeyman Relic is a brilliant blend of vintage styling and modern craftsmanship. It reflects the Fender Custom Shop’s commitment to create the best of what was, to meet the needs of today’s discerning players.
Inspired by the enduring Precision Bass design of 1963, this bass guitar’s body is fashioned from two pieces of alder wood, specifically sorted for light weight to provide the player with comfort during long hours of performance. Its eye-catching Aged Olympic White nitrocellulose gloss finish features slight dings and nicks throughout, offering a visually appealing, time-worn look.
Crafted from quarter-sawn maple, the neck of this Journeyman Relic series bass stands out with an unfinished back—a feature that’s unusual but offers a noticeably smoother playability and a more intimate grip. Further enhancements include a gorgeous AAA Rosewood fingerboard with a 7.25″ radius and vintage clay wide inlays.
The ’63 Precision Bass Guitar Journeyman Relic is set up with 20 fan-favorite medium jumbo 6150 frets, offering wide tonal possibilities. Its ’60 P-Bass Oval “C” profile, gradually expanding from 0.790″ at the first to 0.990″ at the twelfth fret, adds to the comfort and playability up and down the entirety of the neck.
The single Hand-Wound ’62 P-Bass pickup is the powerhouse at the heart of this bass. It offers a full-bodied and punchy tone, retaining the vintage appeal that defined Fender’s early years. The bass guitar does not have middle and neck pickups, or control knobs, preserving the straightforward and focused tone that the Precision Bass is renowned for.
To sum up, the Fender Custom Shop ’63 Precision Bass Guitar Journeyman Relic is a testament to Fender’s legacy and innovation, embodying vintage charm with modern playability.
