Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen USB Audio Interface
The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 has been reimagined and remastered for the recording artist in its 4th Generation audio interface.
Whether you are or are not new to audio recording, there’s a high chance there is now or has been a Focusrite Scarlett on your desktop. This popular audio interface has been renown for its high quality preamplifiers and recording capabilities coupled with ease of use and affordable price point.Â
For 2023, Focusrite has introduced the 4th Generation of Scarlett interfaces, with upgraded mic preamps and automatic dynamic controls at the front panel.
The Focusrite 2i2 now features two 4th Generation mic preamps. With a 69dB gain range, they are Focusrite’s clearest and most detailed on a Scarlett interface – 13dB higher than Focusrite’s 3rd generation preamps. This high threshold gain range can benefit podcasters using a close mic, i.e. Shure SM7B, to up-close capture sibilance and dynamics.
On the front panel are two controls new for the 4th Generation Scarlett, “Auto” and “Safe”. Press “Auto” and send signal to either channel for ten seconds, and the 4th Generation 2i2 will set a perfect input level for recording. Press “Safe” and either channel will be in Clip Safe mode, acting as an engineer in the box to prevent signal clipping.
The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Generation certainly does not leave you empty handed when it comes to recording software. Upon registration of your Scarlett, users will have access to Ableton Live Lite, three months free of Avid ProTools Lite, and Focusrite’s Hitmaker Expansion software bundle – a collection of incredible studio tools including Auto-Tune Access for vocals, Softube Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 for guitar, and Native Instruments MASSIVE synth.
Rounding out the new 4th Generation package is a whopping 120dB gain range, delivered by converters direct from Focusrite’s flagship RedNet interfaces.
