Fuzzrocious Croak Expressive Double Filter Fuzz
Envelope Filter and dirt are effects that go incredibly well together. That challenge of finding the perfect wah and combining it with your ideal fuzz or distortion and then trying to figure out which order you like them in is almost a rite of passage for guitar players and one of the earliest lessons learned in effect signal-chaining. When two effects go this well together you often see builders offering them as a combo in one box (look how many reverb/delay boxes are out there). But for some reason, you don’t see too many builders tackling the task of putting these two iconic effects in one box. There have only been a handful of attempts at this (one of the most well-done was the EHX Tube Zipper) and not a lot in recent years. Enter Fuzzrocious. Enter Croak.
Croak is an “Expressive Filter Fuzz”. What does that mean? It means within this single box, is an incredible thick and brutal fuzz with copious amounts of volume and clarity as well as two (yes, two) filters that have ample amounts of sweep that range from low gurgles to the sound of a threatened mother panther protecting her young and scratching your face off (and a lot of amazing sounds in between). There are tons of controls to dial in the exact animal-analogy you are striving for and thanks to our neighbor a few counties south we have our exclusive Russo Music Colorway.
PRE (P) controls the amount of FUZZ pushing into the filters. More volume pushes the filters to open up faster.
FILTER 1 sweeps the first filter from a gulpy, swallowed up sound to a fly buzzing in your brain grind. You can turn this filter OFF via the TOGGLE, allowing the FUZZ to hit FILTER 2 unobstructed.
FILTER 2 (F2) sweeps an envelope filter. As one moves the F2 pot clockwise, he/she/they can hear the “vocal/vowel quality” of the filter change. With more volume from PRE, the envelope opens faster.
VOLUME (V) controls the output level.
When the left MOMENTARY FOOTSWITCH is fully depressed and held down, the frequency range of the envelope filter (F2) immediately changes. Think of a wah going from toe-down to heel-up via a footswitch.
The EXPRESSION PEDAL overtakes the PRE (P) pot and allows one to control how much fuzz hits the filters. Almost turns the pedal into a wah that changes the vocal quality and funk/feel of the overall sound. Get weird with it!
Due to the handcrafted nature of this pedal, its color may vary from what is pictured.
