Gibson 2008 Explorer, Worn Brown – Used
The Gibson Explorer model debuted in 1958. Its futuristic X body shape did not catch on right away and they stopped production in 1959. In 1975 Gibson relaunched the Explorer model and continues to make them to this day. This Faded Explorer model features a solid mahogany body and neck, rosewood fretboard with twenty-two frets, Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, nickel stop tail, and nickel mini Grover tuners. The wiring includes a 3-way pick up selector with black speed knobs for neck and bridge pick-up volume and a master tone knob. The neck profile is a slim C. The 2008 Faded model has a finish that is different from the conventional Explorer. The body received a layer of wood pore filler that was then coated with a thin layer of satin nitrocellulose lacquer, giving it a natural light-weight finish.
The 2008 Faded Explorer we have here has the Worn Brown stain color and has a triple ply white pickguard that is after market. It was modified with Gibson 57′ Classic Humbuckers that are in very good condition. All other parts of the guitar are original. There is light scuffing along the bottom edge and the bottom left and right corner have some fading and scuffing in finish due to use. These is light denting on the back middle of the body and other very minor dents on the back. The pickup selector was replaced by our technician in house. It is in very good condition overall.
