Gibson Custom Limited Edition J-45 Koa With Engelmann Spruce Top, Natural, Acoustic Guitar
Gibson slope shoulder acoustics have been player-favorites since their inception. Full bodied, well balanced, and easily playable, they are built by guitarists with guitarists in mind. The most famous of them, the J-45, traditionally constructed with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, has seen countless reiterations of itself over the past 80 years. Commonly referred to as “The Workhorse,” it has the ability to cover a vast range of musical genres and playing styles. We are fortunate enough to have scored one of these special reiterations. This Gibson Custom Limited Edition J-45 features perfectly matched, beautifully decorative Koa back and sides. And rather than an Adirondack or Sitka spruce top found on the majority of J-45’s, we have Englemann spruce on this specimen. The combination of these two tone woods make for a unique result, while still keeping the familiarity of the J-45’s sound intact. The Englemann naturally has a more “worn-in” tone than other spruces, and paired with the brighter sounding Koa, you end up with finely tuned, warming sonic experience. If its performance weren’t enough to blow you away, we should mention it’s a looker, too. You can spot a hint of bear claw figure on the top, approaching the stunning rosette. The slotted diamond inlays compliment the silky rosewood fingerboard, and are brought out by the abalone script headstock logo above them. All in all, another masterful work of Gibson Custom playable art.
