Gretsch 1957 Rambler, Smoke Green With Original Case – Used
Here we have a first year production 1957 Gretsch 6115 “Rambler” in Smoke Green. This guitar has a nut width of 1.66″, a scale length of 23″ and weighing at 4 lbs 4 oz.
This is one of the very few Gretsch models to feature a rosewood board with no binding and pearl dot inlays. The “T Roof” Logo was chosen for this model on both the headstock and pickguard. The top is made of laminate maple and features a beautiful Smoke Green finish, with a black back and sides. Unlike most Gretsch models from this time period, this model guitar features a Florentine cutaway that leans it self to more of a Jazz box style. The Chrome-plated hardware features the G-cutout tail piece with red background to match the red truss rod cover and G-through engraved volume and tone knobs.
All and all to tie this guitar together a DeArmond neck pickup was chosen to help capture the essence of this small hollow body.
This 1957 Gretsch 6115 Rambler is in good condition. It shows signs of light checking across the body. The open back tuners are in great shape and turn smoothly. All the hardware original. The frets are in good shape and have plenty of life left. This guitar plays well and rings true.
