Hudson Electronics Broadcast-AP Ariel Posen Discrete Class-A Pre Amplifier Effect Pedal
In a unique collaboration, the minds at Hudson Electronics have teamed up with guitarist Ariel Posen to bring a new take on their classic Broadcast preamp pedal. The Broadcast, a preamp pedal inspired by the tones of vintage recording and broadcasting consoles, has been adjusted to suit Posen’s style of music as well as excite Hudson fans and newcomers alike.
The Hudson Broadcast-AP begins with Hudson’s Broadcast low-gain side circuitry. With its original design centering around a Germanium transistor, Hudson swapped this component for a Silicon transistor to give the low-gain circuitry a more stable, smoother, and darker tone. The fuller sound of the Silicon transistor produces greater kick and low end for the Broadcast. Controls for the Broadcast-AP include Level and Gain Trim potentiometers in addition to a high-pass / low cut filter. The Broadcast-AP dishes out higher gain tones than the original Broadcaster’s low-gain side, so exploring the Broadcast’s clean boosts and thick overdrives becomes a bigger venture when heading into higher-gain territories.
