Martin 2018 000-42 With LR Baggs Anthem & OHSC – Used
This instrument was purchased new, at Russo Music by our friend Brian Fallon. It was used heavily in recording his latest release, “Local Honey”. In addition, it was one of the stars of his “Sittin Round at Home” web series in the spring and summer of 2020.
There are a great many Martin enthusiasts who say the pinnacle of their Standard Series is the 42. Being slightly less understated than the 45 series makes it stand out in a much different way. Sure, you see the beautiful inlay work, but equally visible are the beautiful tone woods, the rich dark ebony bridge and fingerboard, the East Indian Rosewood headplate, and the gold Schaller tuning machines. This fantastic example comes to us from our bud Brian Fallon; who is the original and only owner.
It has opened up beautifully and has enough projection and balance to make playing chords and finger-picking both equally at home. It has a really wide bass response, top-end chime, and lots of rich harmonic overtones. Simply put, this one is a player.
Inside, you get Martin’s traditional Dovetail Neck Joint, Scalloped X-Bracing, and on this one, the LR Baggs Anthem Pickup which allows this guitar to sound exceptional both unplugged and plugged in.
As exceptional as the looks and sound are of this instrument, it’s playability deserves equal mention. The modified oval neck shape and perfect set up on this guitar lends itself to hours of near-effortless playing and is a joy to have in your lap or on a strap. This one is special and we congratulate its future owner in advance!
