Milkman Sound The Amp Stereo, Guitar Amplifier Pedal
Milkman Sound’s The Amp Stereo is a fresh addition to their series of amplifiers that come in a grab and go, pedal format. Building on the success of The Amp and The Amp 100, Milkman Sound drew up a fully stereo amplifier pedal with The Amp Stereo. Designed to serve as a foundation for all your instruments and effects, The Amp Stereo is versatile and chock-full of features.
The Amp Stereo can be used in a variety of applications. Use the stereo headphone amplifier for testing pedals or for keeping the noise down. Use the line level balanced out via the dual 1/4” connectors for a compact, studio quality preamp experience. Or simply treat The Amp Stereo like another pedal, the stereo 1/4” inputs help it to integrate easily onto a board with existing stereo effects. Throw it at the beginning of the signal chain for added tube musicality, or toss is at the end of your board and go out to some speakers to make it your full-time amp.
The Amp Stereo features two tube preamps that react with a guitar the same way any tube amp does: by generating harmonics and the high-fidelity tone that tubes are known for. The two preamps can be summed together by the Sum foot switch. Using a stereo input creates a mono summed signal coming out of both outputs, while using only one input sums to both outputs.
On top of its stereo functionality, The Amp Stereo can also be run as two independent amplifiers each powering its own channel of audio, perfect for practice or multi-instrumentalists. You can quickly correct any phase issues that come up using the Phase foot switch.
Each output on The Amp Stereo can power a 4-, 8-, or 16-ohm speaker load. If running the unit as two independent amplifiers, the two outputs can run into separate speaker cabinets that vary in impedance and wattage, like a 4-ohm bass cab on one side and an 8-ohm guitar cab on the other.
The top of The Amp Stereo features 7 controls: input volume, treble and bass adjustments for both the left and right channels, and an output knob. The output knob controls the amount of signal going from both preamps to the output, so it should be thought of like a master fader on a mixing console.
The rear panel houses all the inputs and outputs except for the stereo headphone amplifier on the front of the unit. Stereo 1/4” inputs, dual 1/4” line level balanced out with a ground lift switch, and stereo speaker outs fill up the back panel, in addition to the “Cab Sim” switch which adds an analog-EQ sweetener to the balanced output and headphones output when applied.
The Amp Stereo has been designed to maximize headroom and play-well with pedals, and like all Milkman products, this amplifier pedal is built by hand in California and comes with a 1-year warranty. So, get those Lactaid pills ready and try The Amp Stereo from Milkman Sound, you won’t regret it.
