Reverend Mercalli 5 Bass Guitar, Rosewood Fingerboard, Midnight Black
Reverend Guitars, born from the visionary mind of luthier Joe Naylor in a Detroit-area garage, has evolved into a global standard for premium instruments, gracing the hands of influential artists such as Billy Corgan and Reeves Gabrels. The Reverend Mercalli 5 Bass is a product of the same innovative spirit that has put the company on the map in the world of boutique guitars.
The Mercalli 5 features a solid korina body with one of Reverend’s unique body profiles, offering a deep cutaway where the body meets a 5-piece maple/walnut neck, with a 6-bolt neck plate securing the connection. This combination offers a stable neck, and its satin amber finish allows for a quick and comfortable playing experience combined with its Oval C profile.
A feature that sets the Mercalli 5 apart is its 5-string configuration, combined with a unique pickup configuration featuring Reverend’s custom-crafted pickups. In the neck position, the Split Brick 5 ups the output of highs and lows, reminiscent of a P Bass pickup but with a cleaner, thicker profile. In the bridge position, the Thick Brick 5 produces warm mids with a sharp attack, similar to that to an active pickup but with an organic, vintage-inspired touch added. The marriage of these pickups, easily balanced by the pickup pan control, allows adaptability to most musical situations, making the Mercalli 5 Bass an instrument that boasts a versatility that’s hard to find for its price point.
With a gorgeous gloss Midnight Black finish, the Mercalli 5 offers a sleek, timeless aesthetic. From its humble Detroit origins to its current residence in Toledo, Ohio, Reverend Guitars has maintained an unwavering commitment to quality and exceptional tone, and the Mercalli 5 Bass is a shining example of that commitment.
