Taylor Custom Grand Auditorium C14ce Catch #14, Bearclaw Sitka Spruce/East Indian Rosewood
Taylor unveiled a handful of new C14ce Catch models at NAMM 2024, and this Grand Auditorium Catch #14 with a bearclaw Sitka spruce top and East Indian rosewood back/sides was a standout. This guitar is the embodiment of Taylor’s boundary-pushing acoustic instruments since 1974, and includes a host of performance features and ornamentation pieces that make it a notable piece from NAMM.Â
This guitar’s Grand Auditorium-shaped body is built with a top made of premium bearclaw Sitka spruce, and a back and sides with a much darker complexion, made of East Indian rosewood. This combination of woods makes for a beautiful contrast between the color of the top and that of the back and sides, all of which are finished with a clear gloss, natural finish, showcasing the natural beauty of the woodgrains underneath. The absence of a pickguard underscores this guitar’s simplicity.
The neck of this Taylor beauty is carved from Neotropical mahogany, and topped with a stunning, dark West African Crelicam ebony fingerboard, with custom LB diamond inlays made od Mother of Pearl and bloodwood. Atop the neck, the headstock features an ebony veneer to match the color of the fingerboard, and is stocked with Gotoh 510 Antique Chrome tuning machines.Â
Taylor’s ES-2 electronics allow this guitar’s tone to be faithfully recreated in live settings, and boasts a Piezo pickup, as well as three individual control knobs: one for Volume, one for Bass, and one for Treble.Â
