Taylor Custom Grand Auditorium C14ce Catch #25, Western Red Cedar/East Indian Rosewood
Included in Taylor’s 2024 NAMM Catch releases, this Custom C14ce with a Western red cedar top and East Indian rosewood back and sides was a standout. This guitar embodies Taylor’s commitment to pushing boundaries in the world of acoustic guitars since 1974.Â
Utilizing uncommon Western red cedar for its top, this guitar showcases incredible ornamentation and use of wood in unique ways. The mid-sized, grand auditorium body features a single Venetian cutaway, and a beveled armrest that makes this instrument incredibly comfortable to play. On its Brown Sugar Mocha-finished top, a pickguard made from Indian rosewood matches the back and sides of this guitar, made from the same material. Mother of Pearl binding surrounds the entire perimeter of the top of the instrument.Â
The neck of this beautiful Taylor Custom Grand Auditorium is carved from Neotropical mahogany, and boasts a fingerboard made of stunning West African Crelicam ebony, topped with custom “Belle Fleur” inlays, created using Mother of Pearl and Paua, which matches the rosette surrounding the sound hole. Atop the neck, the headstock features Gotoh 510 Antique Chrome tuning machines.
This Taylor “Catch” is quite a catch in many ways, including its use of ES-2 proprietary electronics to help accurate recreate the sound of this guitar in live settings. This system utilizes a Piezo pickup, and offers Volume, Bass, and Treble knobs for tonal customization.Â
